The first time you called, six months ago and asked me about your case, I listened to you patiently and advised you about some general strategy and suggested you come in and talk to me.  You said you would think about it and would call back.

Next time you called back we started at square one (don’t think I didn’t notice, it’s my job to remember this stuff, and I take notes).  Patiently we talked in some depth about developments in your case.  Two days later you called back and tried to talk my ear off (starting nearly at the beginning) and I nudged you back into focusing on what’s important so you could gather the information and come to an appointment.

When a mysterious person called the next day with a similar case as the one you described, a different name, but the very same voice  (I’m bad with faces but excellent with voices) I began to lose patience.

The next day the original you calls and tries to get even more information.  Feeling a little grouchy but still vaguely amused, I cut it short saying, “Make an appointment and plan to bring your checkbook.”  Fair enough, no?

So today when an old-old client of mine, who I fired for a) non-payment and b) being crazy, calls up out of the blue and wants to alternately berate me for cutting him off two years ago and at the same time tries to hire me back into a case with the same set of facts as this lady who keeps calling has been describing I put it all together.  You, crazy-lady are the crazy sister of one of my craziest ex-clients.

I’ll be representing y’all, let me think… never.
