“We’ll talk about ducks and attempt to rationalize the fear some have of these creatures.”
Oh, you know your audience, Mister. Yes, you do.
Coo! Becky. Becky’s wiki page. Woooooooooooooooooeeeeeeee!
[my brain just broke]
All good liars should write fiction. But the ambitious ones…. they should write wikis.
Works for me.
Weeeeeeee! so… who’s going to cover the ‘high level puce alert’ definition then???? (refer: scrine wiki > title: duck)
Well, I had fun, but in the end I got quite frustrated that I couldn’t delete something.
Keith, you’ll probably find an empty harlequin article (meant to be a category) and several misspelt attempts category:footwear.
Nonetheless, it was fun. Becky is a wiki!
I’ll have to think about ‘high level puce alert’ for awhile. I’m not sure I’m qualified, given my general, overall puceless attitude.
I see what you mean about not being able to delete. That, I can tell you, was some sort of code flaw with that particular wiki template. I’ve switched back to the default template, which does have a delete button. My plan is naturally to mold the wiki and give it a distinctive Scrine look, but of course, this will take time.
And you two did appear to have fun. Very nice! I feel I know Becky better already.
Oh my. I’m afraid to go look.
I know I’m going to need therapeutic distraction at some point this week, but if I start now, the penalty could be disbarment.
(contemplating whether that would be a bad thing or not…)
The Scrine Wiki is so young and innocent at the moment that I can’t see how it could possibly lead to disbarment.
But give it time….
I was just thinking, “It would be cool if there was a ‘recent changes’ category in the Wiki,” and I went there and there it was—Wikis read minds. Scarey.
There is also an RSS feed, set up, I suppose, for the wiki overachiever.
The mind boggles, Scriners. This could be truly fascinating fun.
I think that like the encyclopedia (for the benefit of the younger readers, these were books filled with alphabetized information, which was then sold door-to-door by enterprising individuals), and like the Internet itself, the information in the Scrine Wiki will grow exponentially once the contributors begin to add their information to articles, rather than spending their time amending them.
ohmigod
I’m having to snort laughter into a tissue as a I read the history of edits that has occurred in Becky’s wiki.
Come on you guys, I need to do some work today!
[boot, possibly a figment of Becky’s imagination, walks away laughing]
and there was me wondering what Keith meant by “rather than spending their time amending them”...
Yeh, and when he wrote it, it was directed particularly at your much-abused rodent-friend. That was before he himself succumbed to the siren’s call of the succoring succubus that is Becky-play.
Heh, heh. I guessed as much.
Hey, boot. You workin? Cuz I’m about to declare beer o’clock in CA. Which means that, aside from the time I spend making sure the ‘net is as it should be, I’ll have the chatbox open…
Yup, chatted with ‘mouse. Might as well write today off as ‘stuffing about on Scrine’ day.
Keith, I still can’t find a delete button. Can you rid us of this amazing spelling mistake on my part:
Category:Irrational-Pyschyopaths
Sounds like some sort of weird and grumpy elephant…
Unfortunately (and I don’t know why this is, so don’t bother asking), you are not allowed to delete a category once it has been created. Strange, it seems to me.
But you can hide it, which I guess is the next best thing. And in case someone stumbles onto it accidently, I have also redirected it to point to the correct category.
But, Keith, why is it so?
(thanks)
I did try to redirect it, but I think I’m getting something wrong in that process.
The redirect is done just like a wiki internal link. Double brackets around the the place you need to redirect to.
I then changed the code on the Categories page to NOT show categories that have no articles associated with them.
I suspect I just missed one of the brackets. I’ll just try and be more careful with the spelling of categories in future (it’s difficult as it’s all so exciting!)
Thanks again.
Hmmm. I just had a go at this with the mis·spelt
“The Australian Wallabie Insurrection”,
trying to redirect it to
“The Australian Wallaby Insurrection”.
I’m fairly sure I did the double bracket thing correctly (in the redirect box/field) and then hit submit. Doesn’t take.
in my own counterculture way, i must add, ‘I’m not that excited’.
Bah!
Counterculture in this case is misguided.
The wiki is full of great lies. Clearly goliard is only trying to fool us with another.
