Before the world is finally used up and discarded by an uncaring humanity I am grabbing my Course In Miracles and an assortment of Sharpies (I know…I have said this before but I mean it this time) and tossing them in my backpack along with some underwear, extra socks, tee-shirts and a sweatshirt in case it gets cold and setting out to see the world before it’s gone…I am going to backpack around the world, photographing and journaling my way from wonderment to wonderment.

I’ll have some of what he’s smoking…

Send postcards.

That sounds amazing. Will you take your garden gnome with you and photograph him seeing the sites?

That’s a good idea...or a stuffed monkey small enough to fit in my pack. I’ll have to design a special webpage where I can post pictures and such.

Are the Sharpies along to be sniffed?

Indubitably one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.  So many people allow the reasons for not doing it hold them back.  There are always reasons for not doing things but it’s the wrong way of looking at it.

You really only need one reason for travelling and having decided you ACTUALLY want to, you just eliminate the reasons for not doing it one by one.  Otherwise you didn’t really want it in the first place.  Good luck to you.

Okay, my bag is packed.  Where are we meeting?

I knew I was not a light weight world traveller when my first reaction was ‘what, only a bag!!’ I have way too much baggage.

I’m a natural.  When I travel, it is always with only one bag.  On an unknown road, one must make sure to always have at least one free hand.

This makes good sense.  However, I’m afraid when it comes to ‘traveling light’ it is one of those times I’m completely lacking in good sense.

Of course, generally at least one bag is empty (to be filled with many books on the trip).

Let’s all meet at the Coffee Shop around the corner.
