In the unnatural silence of the kid-free house, Babbette prepared for the pool boy’s arrival by fanning out the library books on the coffee table.

Man, I hate it that all our great comments are gone from these old entries.  I know it had to be done to stabilize Scrine and let its wings grow.  But still.

When is the anniversary of the new site so we can begin to review all our scintillating wit?

Sadly, this is not one of the sets I secretly saved for myself when I was doing sentence-shepherding.  I know I saved a few “Jackie-O/Jo” sentence/comment sets, but not that one.

Maybe Keith has it in a secret location somewhere?

I do have some comments associated with Jo’s Jaunty Tilt which has some great dialogue, such as:

No matter which way we circle the drain, we all go down it eventually.

I do have everything saved, and someday hope to move it all, but it is a big job.  A much bigger job than moving the sentences themselves was, and Boot knows what that means.

Everything resides in two separate databases.  Unfortunately, none of the information regarding the data fields matches between the two.  When sentences were re-entered, they all received new IDs, just as the comments did, just as the members making them did, etc.  You get the picture.  A real mess.

Once life settles a little for me, I may be able to rebuild the old database somehow to more closely match the new one, then combine them.  I know next to nothing about working with mySQL and databases, so it might take me a little to get up to speed.

But it’s one of my grand future projects that I will get to.  Eventually.

“...and Boot knows what that means.”

Yikes!  Yes.  [shudders]

Still, it’s comforting to know that they’re all stored snugly somewhere in Scrine’s attic.  Where would the mysteries of life be, if it weren’t for the dusty boxes in the attic…
