The future of old sayings is always questionable; for instance, in the future, the growing clone population will no doubt find it offensive to hear “chip off the old block.”
...the growing clone population...
We of the National Association of Replicated Americans find the use of the term “clone” to be natalist, and, as such, highly offensive.
While I would love to apologize for my use of the term “clone,” I’m afraid I must stick to my guns (and I say this, knowing full well that I will infuriate my attorneys for violating the terms of my settlement agreement with the anti-gun lobbies). While I cannot account for the sensitivities of your association, I can inform you that I use the term quite frequently around several of my closest friends, all of whom are clones, and they assure me that they take no offense whatsoever to the word. And yes, while there are those who would argue that attempting to support my position using clones developed from my own DNA is not only offensive in and of itself, but also makes for an incredibly weak argument, I would tend to think otherwise. Unless I am seriously mistaken, I believe that you would support my position regarding the independence and singularity of the clone, or if you prefer, the Replicated American population.
Okay, I give. You win, Keith—I mean, Keiths.
