Blinded by the light, revved up like douche in the middle of the night.
And with that, you have just triggered the memory of my most favorite Vacant Lot sketch ever. :)
("Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a docent in the humble of the might...")
Edit: Ironically, Manfred Mann, the source of all this debate, got the line wrong himself in his cover. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen, and his original version (which is on his first album, Greetings from Asbury Park) contains the actual lyric: “Blinded by the light/cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night.” Strange but true. :)
Teehee.... oooo that required more thought. I heard it this morning in the car and thought “I’m pretty sure that’s deuce but this would make a great Scrine post”. Sad isn’t it?
Sad? Honey, it’s brilliant. I hope you plan on bringing us more of them.
To this day, I still hear ‘douche’ and have yet to actually look it up to find out what the lyric really is. I think a part of me would die to know that the word isn’t actually ‘douche’.
I won’t spoil your blissful world by shedding any light on the subject. The original version of the song was penned by Bruce Springsteen, and appeared on his debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.. Listening to it doesn’t, in my opinion, shed much light on the douce mystery. The version people are most likely familiar with is probably the one by Mannfred Mann.
Cuing up “little douche coop” to round out the theme…
I would be really concerned about turbo charged douche’s
....four on the floor.
