yes, i am aware that october lacks yet a day, but it is sunday, and lovely, and all is well and so it is in honor of young buxtehude that i make The Season’s First Pot Roast; and Pie! don’t forget the apple pie.
I too am planning on a roast today. Steve has a new baby, so I got a new crock pot. My guess is that both hold about 6 quarts.
shall we trade recipes? for the potroasts, i mean; i think i almost remember how to make a baby.
I think both require thyme.
sage advice.
That’s extra funny, e, because my wife’s name is Sage. And she helped make the baby.
Also, does anyone remember Roddy Doyle’s novel and film The Snapper, in which a new grandfather says aloud at the pub, “Nine pounds, seven ounces."* The old fellow beside him asks, “Is that a baby or a turkey?” to which the first man answers, “It’s a baby.” The old fellow says, “Big baby. Small turkey, though.” One of my favorite scenes.
* I’m guessing at the number here; I can’t find the book.
do you think she might help with my potroast? after all, she’s finished having the baby, she must be looking around for some new occupation now?
