Bill closed his eyes preparing himself to hurtle like a rock toward the swirling water below when a red convertible zipped by, the Violent Femmes Blister in the Sun blaring loudly from the stereo, causing him to pause momentarily and consider what he was doing – “You know they’re right,” he mused out loud” to himself- and he walked home to strangle his sleeping wife instead.

scrinebird!  one-sentence violation!  squwak!

The creative use of punctuation (albeit not strictly proper)gets it past the violation. After a couple of apple-tinis you will see more clearly.

there is nothing creative about misuse: ignorance is no excuse.

If ignorance is no excuse how do you explain the Bush Administration or Reality Television?

i don’t believe either is, or should be, on scrine.  and all the drinks in the world will not affect one’s education or lack thereof, one way or the other.  there’s no way out of this one, sorry, you’ll just have to knuckle dpwn.

Oh, e.  Relax a little.  Scrine is in my heart, above all else, a fun place.

I would say that I am usually not too shabby with grammar, but I am extraordinarily lacking in formal education.

Excuse me while I undertake a bit of grammar rebellion myself.

my point exactly, boot: couldn’t have made it better.

Considering I wasn’t making your point, I was making my own, I can confidently say I’m now thoroughly confused.

Time to move on to sunshine and lolling in fields, I think.

Yikes! This is getting a little out of hand. I have a hand fossil on my face! :-) Believe it or not I have a minor in creative writing. But I admit my puntuation and grammar is a bit rusty and even in the good old days a little challenged at best. As my former editor once said, “that is why we have editors.” :-)

Scrine is just fun. I don’t take it all that seriously. I am not under any delusions that my posts will be on any American literature curriculum. I wouldn’t want them to be. This is just a place to visit to take a break from a busy day or to take out the trash in order to benefit the overall creative process. Most of my posts take under 30 seconds...they come and go in a flash!

Rest assured that when I compose a piece in any professional capacity the final draft has been scrutinized by me and an editor. I am just enjoying the first part of the creative proces which is brainstrorming....getting the flow going without being preoccupied with the details. The details are very important. But the crafting always comes later after content.

BTW I graduated SUM CUM LAUDE from my University with a degree in Philosophy. However, that just makes me an overeducated idiot. I know people with little to no formal education that are smarter, more creative and more wise than me. Too bad it took 25K + for me to learn that! I would have saved some money!
