I read the news today, oh boy: Guest Scriner: 8 y.o. 'mouse jr'ette << home >> More adventures in the slip
I am not being sarcastic, but rather, genuinely curious: Why would you dock your boat on one of the sweetest, sleepiest, most verdant, salt-scented islands in the Atlantic, and then spend your weekend with your boat in the slip while your stereo system blares “Jessie’s Girl” by Rick Springfield on repeat play, over and over and over and over?
Where are all the murderous pirates when you need them the most?
Why? For the sex, of course. As for staying aboard, you do that so that you don’t run into anyone who knows your wife and might report back about “Jessie’s girl.”
Personally, I do agree there’s a near-criminal problem with the choice of music—if we’re going with an 80’s theme, let’s double the Cialis and get those old bones moving with some AC/DC, B52s and the Police.
‘mouse, ‘mouse, ‘mouse. Those are all 70’s bands, you big silly. Sure, they all had certain measures of success—hell, they had towering success—in the 80’s with certain songs, but considering that Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap was released in the mid/late 70’s, I just can’t consider AC/DC within the context of an 80’s theme, although I’ll admit that “You Shook Me All Night Long” skirts the acceptable edge of 80’s-ness.
Now, play me a little “Hungry Like the Wolf,” and who knows where the night will go?
Of course I’m kidding. I know you hate Duran Duran. Besides, I’m more of a “Girls on Film” fan.
(ducks, runs)
I suggest you play hard to get, ‘mouse, and see if we can coax someone into singing Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me.”
And when I see that all is well, I’ll break into some Huey Lewis. Maybe “That’s The Power of Love.”
You’d better change it back or we will both be sorry. ;)
ZOMG, I can’t believe it’s been a year since I went to Block Island. If I’d known then how I would be spending the same weekend a year later, I’d not have believed it.
