I haven’t actually used the word in a sentence, but I think I’d like to.

I’d certainly like to be able to use umbillicate in a sentence.  What a weird word.

“Forty-nine species were of the crustose growth form, 32 were foliose, 16 were fruticose, four were squamulose and one was umbillicate.”

That’s the word I voted for.

It’s an amazing word.  I was (yes, I have to confess it now) reading the dictionary the other day and happened upon it.  This led me to think “what a great word to chuck in a conversation to perplex others… I wonder what else would be good for that sort of thing.” Hence, this timewasting poll.

There, I’ve given “umbilicate” a spin on Scrine.  Maybe I’ll take another out for a test-drive tomorrow.
