I felt like wasting some of my time and knew that many other Scriners would be open to this possibility as well.

So, here’s a poll.  *

* I can see that Keith will soon be dismantling the poll feature and never letting me play here again, but that’s the risk us language revolutionaries must take.

I haven’t actually used the word in a sentence, but I think I’d like to.

I’d certainly like to be able to use umbillicate in a sentence.  What a weird word.

“Forty-nine species were of the crustose growth form, 32 were foliose, 16 were fruticose, four were squamulose and one was umbillicate.”

It’s an amazing word.  I was (yes, I have to confess it now) reading the dictionary the other day and happened upon it.  This led me to think “what a great word to chuck in a conversation to perplex others… I wonder what else would be good for that sort of thing.” Hence, this timewasting poll.

There, I’ve given “umbilicate” a spin on Scrine.  Maybe I’ll take another out for a test-drive tomorrow.

Beautifully done, sir.  I’m going to try and work my way from top to bottom.  Wretched, isn’t it.

I just want it on the record that I *didn’t* select wretched.  I did think about it but there was an even more appealing option… so there boot! :)

(There, there… have a look at the feet pics again and you might feel a bit better about me not being so predictable this time.. http://www.grudknows.com/inanemutterings/anzac_day_bbq06.asp)
