Beer-o’clock rolls around (Mozilla Firefox tells me so, so it must be true) and I’m asked if I want to meet friends for drinks.  Lately I’ve taken to asking them if we can do drinks at a certain pub in the city as they do very nice finger food, particularly the Haloumi Cheese things.

I’ve eaten them a lot.  So I know what they look like, and I’ve a fair idea of the basic ingredients.  I regularly think I’ll give making them a shot.

Anyway, was invited to a friends place for dinner and I decided to make them.  What’s more, I didn’t secretly decide this, I announced to my friend that I’d bring over the entree and also announced what it was going to be (at least the ingredients) - one person was allergic to chilli and another was a vego so I was just verifying the ingredients to say, ‘hey! no problems here’.

Anyway, I gave it a go.  Details of my attempts can be found at:

If you should be so bold as to give them a go yourself - and perhaps even refine the recipe after the first tasting or two, I’d love to hear how you went, what you did and how you varied the recipe.

It’s good to see that not every entry requires a poll guarding the door.  I’ll read the recipe over.  At first glance, however, it looks like a lot of steps.  This scares me.

Heh.  It’s not a lot of steps.  It’s really cinch.  It’s just that I tend to tell go off on many tangents rather than just write a traditional recipe.

Hows this:

Chop haloumi cheese into about 1cm wide and high blocks, wack it on the thinned out puff pastry, top it with some mint leaves and sliced cherry tomato (1/4 to half), wrap pastry right around, baste, stick in a very hot oven, remove when nicely browned and enjoy.
